Employees sealing major deals and setting up business strategies are often the ones garnering the most attention and praise. Behind the scenes, however, are the hard-working secretaries who go above and beyond to support their bosses and their offices. To recognise their hard work, recruitment firm Randstad launched the inaugural Great Secretary Getaway last October.
After tough deliberations from the judges, the winners of the Great Secretary Getaway have been selected and will enjoy thousands of dollars in prizes including a dream holiday with shopping vouchers to indulge in some retail therapy. The top three winners will also be showered with gifts from sponsors Elizabeth Arden, Anti-Oxidant Wellness, Her World, Ferrero and Spa Esprit.
The Great Secretary Getaway campaign reached out to over 4,000 CEOs, MDs, HR Directors and Office Managers to nominate their company’s, team’s or personal secretary and tell us how their nominees have exhibited the values and behaviour of an exemplary secretary.
To ensure objectivity, the nominations of the contest were evaluated and selected by a panel of esteemed judges from some of Singapore’s most well-known organisations including Changi Airport Group, General Electric, Rehau, Simply Giving and Westpac Banking Corporation.
2016 great secretary getaway winners
Emerging as the first Great Secretary Getaway winner is Jennifer Lee from Adventus Singapore. Her hard work was recognised as her dedication to her bosses and the company goes far above and beyond her job description. Described as a caring and motherly figure within the organisation, she always goes the extra mile to care for the rest of the staff, ensuring that everyone is happy and comfortable, even helping sick colleagues with herbal tea and medication.
Jennifer Lee noted, “I’m very happy to have won the Great Secretary Getaway and am grateful towards my boss for the nomination. The Adventus team is like family to me and that motivates me to help everyone and make sure everything in the office is going smoothly. As for my holiday destination, I have not been able to make up my mind yet, but I look forward to spending a great time with my two kids and husband.
Josh Border, Director of HR & Secretarial Support, Randstad Singapore added, “Launching the Great Secretary Getaway was a truly fulfilling initiative for the team here at Randstad. The nominations that came in were highly inspiring - as we work very closely with organisations and their secretaries on a daily basis, we know how much hard work goes on behind-the-scenes. We hope that the Great Secretary Getaway reminds us all to always take a step back and appreciate the dedication and drive from the great secretaries around the world.
