In this position as a Marine Hull Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting marine hull risks within the reinsurance space. Your role will focus on assessing large and complex marine hull risks and developing reinsurance programs that align with both client needs and the company's risk appetite. You will play a critical role in managing and growing the marine hull reinsurance portfolio while ensuring the profitability and strategic growth of the book.
The ideal incumbent will be required to analyze the technical aspects of marine hull risks, including vessel age, type, condition, claims history and market conditions. You will collaborate with brokers and clients to structure reinsurance programs that align with their risk profiles and business objectives.
The successful incumbent will be expected to monitor and manage the performance of existing portfolios, ensuring retention, profitability, and growth.
Skills and experience required
- 5+ years of experience underwriting Marine reinsurance, with focus on Hull risk
- Experience with facultative and treaty reinsurance agreements is preferred
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills with the ability to make sound underwriting decisions
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
