Our client, a leading global player in the chemical manufacturing industry, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Singapore. This role will be based on Jurong Island, where the company operates a state-of-the-art facility producing high-value chemical products for various industries, including specialty chemicals, additives, and performance materials.
About the Role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems and power networks across the site. You will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical installations up to 66kV, while also contributing to plant projects and process improvements.
This role requires fieldwork in a chemical plant environment, including handling hazardous materials and adhering to strict safety protocols. Candidates should be comfortable wearing protective equipment and must be willing to work 5 days a week on Jurong Island.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Systems & Maintenance
- Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems (up to 66kV), including substations, switchgear, transformers, motors, diesel generators, UPS, MCCs, and PLC-related controls.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during project startup, maintenance, and production phases.
- Develop and modify control system algorithms, graphics, interlocks, and calculations related to electrical infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations, working closely with internal teams to meet industry standards.
2. Technical Support & Process Improvement
- Provide technical guidance and oversee maintenance and upgrades for electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems.
- Conduct training for the maintenance team on electrical safety and best practices.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process optimizations.
- Support production teams in resolving E&I-related challenges and improvements.
3. Project Management & Engineering Support
- Plan, estimate, and manage electrical, automation, and instrumentation projects, from design to construction and commissioning.
- Ensure seamless integration of new electrical infrastructure within plant operations.
4. Subject Matter Expertise & On-Call Duties
- Serve as the focal point for electrical systems, staying updated on the latest technologies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Take on scheduled on-call duties for E&I-related troubleshooting and support in a 24/7 operational plant.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Process Controls, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of Siemens GIS and SCS systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multicultural setting.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a hazardous environment.
- Proficiency in technical drawings (P&IDs, electrical schematics) and familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to be on-call to support plant operations.
