Recruitment firm Randstad today named Changi Airport Group as the most attractive employer in Singapore at the Randstad Award 2016. The annual award, which celebrated its fifth year in Singapore and its 16th edition globally, was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre – Marina Bay Sands.
The Randstad Award is based on the outcome of the world’s largest survey into employer branding and is the only award which is truly representing "the people’s choice". This extensive research surveys over 200,000 respondents across different age groups, genders and educational levels, and covers 75% of the global economy.
top 3 most attractive companies in singapore
Taking the win for the first time, Changi Airport Group has been climbing the most attractive employer ranking since it debuted in the Top 3 where it came in third in 2014, and 2015 when it took second place behind Procter & Gamble.
The attractiveness factors are facets of an employer brand which are key when talent look for new companies or when deciding to stay. Changi Airport Group took first place in categories including, financial health, good training, long-term job security, strong management, pleasant working atmosphere and environmental and social awareness. Procter & Gamble was ranked first for career progression opportunities and good work-life balance. ExxonMobil was voted most attractive for salary and employee benefits.
Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer, Changi Airport Group noted, “We are deeply honoured to be named the Most Attractive Employer in Singapore this year. As an employer, we are committed to put in our best efforts to keep our employees motivated and engaged. We focus on offering opportunities for our employees to grow with us to the fullest of their potential, and create a sense of pride and belonging for Changi.
"We strive to build and promote an employer brand that is authentic and truly representative of who we are as an employer, and to imbue an internal culture of service to one another; one that is reflective of the magic of Changi we endeavor to provide our passengers each day."
"As a corporatised entity of only six years old, we are by any measure still a very young company. This recognition is therefore an encouragement for us to continue on this journey to build a company that will be one of the greatest place to work for,” said Mr Lee.
Between 2012 and 2014, Singapore Airlines remained the number one most attractive company in Singapore. As a winner for three years in a row, Singapore Airlines was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015, the highest and most prestigious accolade handed out in the Randstad Award. This distinction was only given to three companies worldwide to date, with national icon Singapore Airlines being one of them. As a Hall of Fame inductee, Singapore Airlines will be able to participate in the Randstad Award again in 2018.
Three other Sector Awards were also presented that night – with this year’s spotlight on the most attractive employers within the professional services, banking & financial services as well as property & real estate sectors.
Ms Jaya Dass, Country Director of Randstad Singapore said, "The Randstad Award is a milestone event for us in Singapore, honouring some of Singapore’s most desired employers. Over the years, we have seen the growing recognition and importance companies place on employer branding, and with that, how business leaders have increased the investment in their employer brand and candidate experience in order to attract and retain the best talent.”
“As industries evolve and employee preferences change, the Randstad Award will continue to study and reveal real insights on candidates’ motivations and employer branding in Singapore and around the world,” noted Ms Dass.
about the Randstad Award
Celebrating its 5th anniversary this year in Singapore and its 16th edition globally, the Randstad Award is presented each year to the most attractive employer in 25 markets across the globe. It is based on the outcome of one of the world’s largest independent survey into employer branding, covering over 200,000 global respondents and 75% of the global economy. The outcome of the Randstad Award is based on public perception and focuses on three main areas: overall brand awareness, absolute attractiveness and relative attractiveness. This creates a level playing field for all competing companies instead of giving an advantage to large multinationals with higher name recognition than smaller companies. This award is not open for nomination and the results are based solely on the opinions and votes of the local workforce – making it the only award that is truly representing the people’s choice. The 75 largest companies are selected in each participating market, usually with more than 1,000 employees. This list is presented to a representative cross section of relevant respondents based on region, age and gender. In Singapore, 5,000 employees and job seekers between the ages of 18 to 65 were surveyed. These respondents were asked to identify companies they recognise and indicate if they would like to work for them. This is then followed up with an evaluation of attractiveness factors, such as salary, benefits, work atmosphere and job content, for each of the companies.
